the heat

the smell of fumes

and leftovers

pushes in from the street

and she holds her arms over the blanket

stretches them out in front of her

and the morning light manages

to dress her in a thin gown   (Photo Credit)

the stains on her skin

show through the fabric

oblong scars

from men with wallets

men who stepped out into the heat

out at the airport

already knowing in which positions

they will drain her of life

already in their thoughts have thrown

their hooks and lures through her body

and been able to relax again

do other things

open a newspaper

feel a great calm inside
